Marvyn Allen is the Health Equity and Training Director at One Colorado. Their passion to serve the community began while growing up and studying in Illinois where they earned a Bachelor’s in Social Work, a Master’s in Public Administration, and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies. There, Marv also worked with youth exiting foster care and as the manager of Rainbow Café LGBT Youth Center.

Since moving to Colorado in 2010, they have served on the Board of Directors and facilitated genderqueer support groups for the Gender Identity Center of Colorado, as a volunteer Commissioner on Denver’s LGBTQ Commission, and as an advocate for LGBTQ youth in out-of-home care. Most recently, as the Director of GIVE Denver at Denver Human Services, Marv worked to support individuals and families in meeting their basic needs through community donations, resources, and referrals. In 2017, they co-founded the Transformative Freedom Fund with a mission to remove financial barriers to transition related healthcare for transgender and gender nonconforming Coloradans.

Marv is a queer, trans person living their life outside the gender binary and loves being able to call Colorado home. In their free time, Marv enjoys hiking, live music, and cuddling their cat, Doris.
