11.24.21 Statement: Ahmaud Arbery Case Verdict
With the just conviction of three white men found guilty of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, we want to acknowledge that while justice may have been found today in this particular case, true equality will not be met until the racism within our institutions and social structures is addressed. This outcome has been decided at a time when we’re reminded that our justice system does not treat all equally and the stain of white privilege continues to protect those that have harmed our community. As an organization dedicated to advancing equality, One Colorado commits to increase our efforts to directly fight against racial injustice, vigilantism, and police brutality in every form. Not another child, parent, sibling, or community member should have to watch their loved one die as a victim of racial violence.
