According to a new analysis by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and released today by One Colorado Education Fund, transgender and gender non-conforming Coloradans face high levels of discrimination.The Findings of the National Transgender Discrimination Survey: Colorado Results, a breakout analysis of the monumental study looking at discrimination faced by transgender people in America, Injustice at Every Turn, takes a look at the feedback from 154 respondents from Colorado on various areas of daily life from workplace, to school, to healthcare, and more.A key finding of the full report was that, even given the high levels of discrimination against all transgender people in the U.S., people of color experienced heightened levels of discrimination and had worse outcomes than the sample overall. Transgender and gender non-conforming people of color faced the combination of anti-transgender bias with structural and interpersonal racism.The data for Colorado included sobering statistics, such as:

• 77% of Colorado respondents reported experiencing harassment or mistreatment on the job.
• 15% of respondents reported a household income of $10,000 or less, compared to 4% of the general population, which is almost 4 times the rate of poverty.
• 51% reported being uncomfortable seeking police assistance.
• 47% reported attempting suicide at some point in their life, compared to 41% of respondents nationwide and 30 times the rate of the general population of 1.6%.
