One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for LGBTQ Coloradans and their families, released the following statement from Executive Director Daniel Ramos:
“This November, Coloradans have an opportunity to elect a strong class of pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot to offices that affect our everyday lives. What’s more incredible is our unique opportunity to increase LGBTQ representation in office, including Colorado’s first openly gay governor and the first transgender person in the state legislature, along with the many other openly-LGBTQ candidates running for office across Colorado. Representation matters, and the importance of electing more LGBTQ Coloradans cannot be understated.”
“At the end of the day however, we are not only focused on electing a pro-equality governor and pro-equality majorities in the State Senate and State House, but defeating candidates who would push an anti-LGBTQ agenda at the State Capitol. Colorado has come too far in the areas of LGBTQ equality for us to go backwards, so we need to ensure we elect candidates who will advocate for policies that support all Coloradans, including LGBTQ Coloradans.”
