One Colorado highlights 2021 Pride events around the state!
“After over a year of protecting our community by isolating ourselves, we finally have a chance to celebrate with each other once again. Our hope is not that we will go back to normal, but to move forward with a more thoughtful and inclusive approach to ensure everyone in our diverse LGBTQ community feels safe, supported, and excited to come out for Pride events across the state.”
Nadine Bridges, Executive Director, One Colorado
Pride is a time to celebrate who we are and how far we have come, especially in Colorado. In the 90s, when Colorado was known as the 'Hate State', the possibility of Colorado being a leader in the nation for LGBTQ equality was merely a hopeful wish. As we witness the rise of harmful legislation in state capitols across the country, it serves as a reminder that our work is not finished until we are all equal before the law. Change does come, and it will come from activists who put in the work to carve a better path forward. During the month of June, we hope LGBTQ Coloradans and allies can safely attend a Pride event near them while keeping in mind our history, present circumstances, and the future we would like to create for ourselves. Happy Pride!
