One Colorado Launches “We Are One Colorado” Statewide Tour
Beginning on January 26th and continuing through March, One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans and their families, is bringing our “We Are One Colorado” tour to 13 cities across the state to talk about how to build on — and protect — our victories and continue to advance equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Coloradans and their families. One Colorado will also present the findings of their statewide LGBTQ needs assessment that was conducted in 2016.Sign up for your city’s tour stop here! While not all times and locations have been confirmed, the schedule is as follows:
January 31 — Colorado Springs, CO
February 1 — Fort Collins, CO
February 11 — Grand Junction, CO
February 16 — Breckenridge, CO
We know LGBTQ people living in different parts of the state face many unique challenges. Issues affecting a gay man living in Denver can be completely different than the issues affecting a transgender woman living in a rural area. The “We Are One Colorado” tour is an opportunity for One Colorado to make sure our organization’s work aligns with the needs of LGBTQ people all across our state. Some of the topics One Colorado will be addressing on the tour include ensuring equal access to health care, making every school safe for LGBTQ young people, and removing barriers for transgender Coloradans. The group will also present the findings of our 2016 needs assessment, which surveyed over 3,600 LGBTQ Coloradans about the issues affecting them. Each stop on the tour will include a presentation, questions, and an opportunity for residents and allies to talk about the issues that matter to them.If you have any questions about the tour, please email Garrett Royer at garrettr@one-colorado.org.
